Magic Reindeer Food
Magic Reindeer Food:
This is to leave for the reindeer just like you would leave cookies for Santa. My kids sprinkle it outside in the yard for them every year.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2-6 Tbsp red colored sugar
- 2-6 Tbsp. green colored sugar
Mix the ingredients together in container or bag and attach a ribbon with the following poem.
Sprinkle this reindeer food outside tonight.
The moonlight will make it sparkle bright.
As the reindeer fly and roam.
This will guide them to your home.
Child Safety in Car Seats in the Winter Time
I saw this and decided it was important to share. We fortunately live in Florida and do not deal with big bulky jackets to often, but we have plenty of friends and family who live in the cold winter.
Head over here to see why kids should not wear big coats in their carseats for safety reasons at Car Seats Made Easy
Check out our New Thanksgiving Sections

We will be adding more to both as we find more. If you have a great idea, please share it with us.
Halloween Ghost Jugs
I saw these in the Disney Family Fun Magazine and thought they were so cute. My kids will love making these.
I just ran out to the curb to grab all of our milk jugs before the recycling men come and get them today.
Materials
- Clean plastic gallon milk jugs
- Black permanent marker
- Craft knife
- String of 50 clear low-wattage holiday lights
Instructions:
- Draw ghost eyes and mouths on the jugs. Tip: Leave the caps on while
you do this, so the jugs don’t dent. - Use the craft knife to cut a half-dollar-size hole in the back of each jug for the lights
- Arrange the ghosts near each other and string the lights between them,
stuffing several bulbs into each of the jugs.

Make Your Own Playdough
1 c. flour
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. cream of
tartar
1/2 c. salt
1 tbsp. oil
Food coloring of your choice. (Remember a little goes a long way.)
- Place all dry ingredients in a saucepan and mix.
- Add in wet ingredients.
- Stir until it starts to form. Mixing constantly. It will be gloopy but it gets better and quick!
- Remove from heat
- Place on grease counter or I use a flimsy plastic cutting mat.
- Roll and knead together until cool.
- Then it’s time to play.
This playdough is not sticky and does not dry out if stored in refrigerator in ziploc bag.
**You can substitute packets of Kool Aid instead of the food
coloring. It provides great color and a yummy smell.
I prefer this recipe over any store bought.

For the Kids:Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Lesson
It is so hot here in Florida right now that the kids don’t want to be outside. We have had to come up with some creative activities to keep them busy. I decided to give them a quick lesson on Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
We took an empty peanut container and turned it into a flower vase. They wrapped it in ribbon and glued beads to it. And voila, a flower vase. I then made them tell me how we did the 3 R’s and why it was important to the earth. They actually learned and had fun too.
Who loves Farm Fresh?
Who loves farm fresh fruit and more? I know we do. One of our favorite things to do as a family is to find a local farmer and go picking for some berries, citrus or whatever we can. Head over to the Pick Your Own Farms website and locate a farm near you.
